Strategic priorities

The Learning Network North supports the key initiatives the Learning Networks engage with, in the North of Scotland. Regionally, the development and embedding of new qualifications, along with registration and the demands this places on organisations, all remain a priority. Meaningful engagement with service users and carers will continue to be developed and embedded.

Strategic priorities will reflect the following areas of activity:

  • Disseminating national policies and initiatives including the promotion of the Continuous Learning Framework and a positive perspective of registration of the workforce.
  • Engaging with particular groups of employers to help with identified priorities and develop action plans in order to address gaps in skills in the workforce as specified in the Sector Skills Agreement.
  • Promoting and further developing the local physical and virtual networks. This model has been particularly successful in engagement at a local level across all the sectors and future support should enhance this model.
  • Increasing the work with service users and carers to enable their full contribution to the development of the workforce
  • Ensuring that the original principles of the Learning Networks of transparency, inclusivity, relevance, openness, accessibility, innovation, utility, realism, accountability and partnership continue to underpin all our activities.

Continuing with positive partnerships will enable the Learning Network North to act as a catalyst for change. This will empower the sector to continuously develop sustainable approaches to the ever changing landscape. The facilitation of creative opportunities to share knowledge, good practice, resources and experience will remain as a key driver for the Learning Network North.
