Workforce Development

The Learning Network North takes forward the Learning Networks' engagement with Workforce Development by responding to the particular needs and agendas affecting the workforce in the North of Scotland.

How we support you

The North of Scotland encompasses a wide geographic region, with a large rural workforce and dispersed population centres. Within this context, in order to enable access to learning opportunities and knowledge sharing, we actively contribute to initiatives where technology can be used to overcome some of the challenges presented by geography. However, we also value the importance of face-to-face meetings and facilitate events across the North, on a range of topics relating to workforce development.

Online

In 2007 the Learning Network North developed an online portal, in collaboration with the Robert Gordon University. The Learning Network North Portal (Lnnportal) is available to anyone in the social services sector workforce. Being online, the portal can be accessed anytime and from anywhere and provides access to a range of tools which support learning, communication and collaboration.

In order to enable effective use of technology for accessing and engaging in eLearning, online communication and online collaboration, we facilitate training, including an online communications course, which we have developed in collaboration with the Robert Gordon University. We can also provide bespoke advice and support - refer to the Portal section for more information on how we can support you to use technology for your own and others' development.

Events

Whilst technology can be a helpful tool in addressing the challenges of accessing learning opportunities and engaging with others, we are still very aware of the importance of face-to-face events. We facilitate a range of learning opportunities, events, meetings and local networks across the North region, on a variety of topics relating to workforce learning and development. Please contact us, if you would like to work with us to organise a workforce development related event, in your area.
