VSSSWU Spring Workforce Development Network Event
Tuesday 16 March 2010, 11:00 – 14:30
Location: Aberdeen
Express by Holiday Inn, 29- 43 Chapel St, AB10 1SQ, Aberdeen. Map.
The Learning Network North will be contributing to the VSSSWU's Spring Workforce Development Network event, which will focus on Information Literacy, a set of skills to help you find and share information relevant to your work.
Ian Watson from the Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services (IRISS) will talk about ‘Google', which most people will know something about, but also about how you can access other information that can enhance your learning and improve your practice.
There will be a demonstration of the Social Services Knowledge Scotland www.ssks.org.uk, an online information portal offering access to high quality digital information. Being able to use this tool will be a useful skill for lifelong learning, and can be a good way to contribute to your Post Registration Training and Learning requirements (PRTL).
Grainne Hamilton from the Learning Network North will demonstrate the Learning Network North Portal https://lnn.rgu.ac.uk/, which was developed to address the challenges posed by the geography of the North of Scotland. This online portal is available to anyone in the social services sector workforce, to facilitate or access learning opportunities, online communication and collaborative working.
